Toronto students compare rooms before the fall leases start

Students in Toronto are comparing rooms this week, before the fall leases are signed. The campus board lists who needs a roommate and which buildings still have a spare room.

Most of the notes are for shared apartments near the subway, not for a whole house. Students asked one another to say whether the room is furnished and whether the lease allows a guest for the reading week.

A Saturday table at the student center is checking that the listings name a real building. The table does not collect rent. It only helps people read the lease before they sign.

Anyone still looking after Friday can leave a note with a budget and a move-in week. The board will stay up through the first day of class.
