Free blood pressure checks are back at the community center on Thursday mornings. The nurse is there from 9 to 12, and no appointment is required.
The check takes about ten minutes, including the time to sit before the cuff goes on. The nurse writes the numbers on a card you keep. The center does not store the result.
People who already have a doctor can take the card to the next visit. People who do not have a doctor get a list of clinics taking new patients, including the Saturday children's clinic for the rest of the household.
The table is in the lobby, not in a private room. If you want the check somewhere quieter, tell the nurse and she will use the office behind the desk.
