Tax desk answers the first questions before filing season

A community tax desk is answering the first questions people ask before filing season, including which papers to keep and which letters can wait.
The desk is not preparing returns this month. It is sorting questions so January is not the first time someone opens the envelope. Bring last year's papers if you have them. If you do not, come anyway and make a list of what is missing.
Common questions this week were about a new baby, a first job, and money sent to family overseas. The desk writes the question down and says which paper usually answers it.
Appointments are free and last twenty minutes. The sign-up sheet is at the community center and fills up by Wednesday.
